Are We Paying Too Much for Mobile in New Zealand?

 Hey everyone,

Just wanted to get your thoughts on something that’s been bugging me lately.

Most major telcos in NZ charge $50–$80/month for mobile plans — and that usually comes with data caps, contracts, or hidden fees. But I recently came across Nextelle NZ, which is offering unlimited data, calls, and texts for just $20/month — with no contract. 😲

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and so far the coverage and speeds are great — same network infrastructure as the big names, but way more affordable.

So my questions are:

  • Are the big telcos overcharging us?

  • Has anyone else tried Nextelle NZ or a similar budget provider?

  • What’s more important to you: price, speed, or flexibility?
